Nice video That's a fun track eh? I haven't been there yet myself, but I am planning on a bike trackday there sometime in the future. I have a friend who has been there with his 996 GT3 and he hits 150mph on the main straight....exciting to say the least I'm sure.
Ahhh I love drunk threads like this. I was going to post after I got home from a heavy round of drinking on Friday night but I think I forgot :P You can always feel the love in this kind of thread though :grouphug:
Back end isn't exactly gorgeous either It better be a damn good drive... although it'll probably never make it to production like so many new supercars we see.
That's great It's been 10 years since I lived in England and we only use pounds here, so I didn't think of what 11 stone actually was, yeah, that's a bit light! You must be noticing the improved power to weight ratio on your motorbike
Wow, I did not know this until I just read this post That's an amazing achievement, congratulations! I read in your blog that you are 11 stone something now, so this means you actually lost more than half your weight? Very inspiring
I've been riding for only a year but I think I'd be ok riding a Hayabusa, I'd just have to find the right place to open it up! I'm sure it's a rediculous amount faster than my bike, and it would certainly take some getting used to... Mine has about 75hp, fastest bike I've ridden had 120hp, and that wasn't scary fast, just really quick. I'm sure a Hayabusa or a modern litrebike WOULD be scary fast
Yes, of course, once you get above a certain speed, power to drag ratio is what's important. It's interesting to see a comparison on track between an Atom and an M5 (which is somewhere on www.dpcars.net). The M5 set the better laptime just because it was reaching a significantly higher speed on the straights.
No most of the time there is a lot of stuff happening. It's not open for some reason. Apart from the fact that there are no cars, there is a gate across the lane that brings you back into the parking lot after a lap.
There's a series of speedbumps where I used to live that are large but smooth, perfect for taking quickly for some fun. One day I decided to take them about 40mph, quite a bit faster than usual. Got some air, bottomed out on landing, and broke some beer that was in the trunk that I had forgotten all about! Doh!
Hillclimbs and rally stages are the most appealing for me. Dirt hillclimbs, sure, but I would be most interested in tarmac hillclimbs As for rally stages, dirt and tarmac, it's all good!
For point to point stages like hillclimbs and rally I suppose starting would be done in a similar way to autocross, with a number of seconds between starters.
I've never really liked Mustangs for the most part, just not thought of them as my type of car, but regardless I can't help but appreciate the amount of straight line performance per dollar they can offer with a few mods Is there any less expensive way to end up with a car with that kind of power?
Yeah really, I wish Allan had stopped comparing him to Senna. Really sad for Sutil, but still happy to see him do so well and take advantage of the situation this race provided for him. Exciting race.
I really like cars that are simple and with clean designs, not filled with little details. I find some of the newer Ferraris (like this one) a little too finicky and would prefer something with more of a clean, smooth, minimalist design. And the rear end...hmmm! I won't make my mind up completely until I've seen one in the skin, but for now it's not close to being my favourite Ferrari of recent years (which is still the 355. I'll take a red one please).
Yeah, doesn't make much sense to me either. Maybe the slicks will be more predictable and progressive when cold, but still, I don't see the advantage of taking away the tire warmers.
170hp, that should be plenty Nice. FlyinMiata (www.flyinmiata.com) in the US are the official US distributor of the Westfield that's based on an MX5 Miata, and they're sticking one of their turbocharged Miata engines in one of the Westfields. 260rwhp no problem, 300+ if they add a couple of parts and turn the boost up
As for cars I race...
First pic: I have been autocrossing my '90 Miata in stock class for the last couple of years. Lots of body roll but lots of fun Not the best picture but it's the best one of me driving right at the limit with a bunch of body roll :P
Second pic: This is me driving a friends '97 Miata. He has a turbo kit from FlyinMiata, and the car makes 260rwhp. Great car, absolute BLAST to drive. Very little lag and great powerband, not at all peaky, which is perfect for autox. I won the CSP class at the Canadian National Autoslalom in this car last year.
Third Pic: A friends 996 GT3. Been an honour to drive this car, but so far it's only happened in damp or wet conditions! Doh! This year he has told me I have to drive it in the dry so he can see how much I can beat him by when it's not raining, and I have graciously accepted! This pic is the owner driving the car, not me.
I have raced a bunch of other cars in autocross too, including a 450rwhp Nissan 240 (), but these are the only cars I have raced on a somewhat regular basis.
I think you're taking what he said too seriously, it was just a joke, more worthy of a ROFL response than a couple of paragraphs And from reading your comparison between the 997 Turbo and the R35, are you implying that you are a modern day Einstein?
Please don't feel you need to respond seriously, I am just having a laugh!
As for lack of tire warmers, my first thought was 'wow, there's enough trouble on the first lap anyway', but I realize you need to see how the new tires are to make that judgement. Perhaps they will work better at lower temperatures, as suggested already.
